From Sawmill Owner to Exporter
Roots was founded by Stephan Fischer, who ran his own hardwood sawmill in Germany for 30 years and built a customer base across Europe and Asia. Today he brings that experience directly to the source: Morehead, Kentucky, in the center of the Appalachian hardwood region.
We know what furniture, flooring and joinery manufacturers abroad actually need – because we have been one of them. That is why we sort to our own standards, not just to the minimum the grading rules allow.
What sets us apart
Sorted Above Grade
NHLA grading is our starting point, not our limit. Sapwood on one face at most, wane limited to 1 inch, narrow widths capped, and a strong share of long lengths (9–12 ft).
Dried for Your Market
Gentle, controlled drying to the target moisture your production needs – fewer checks, less stress, better yield.
Packed for Export
Clean, square bundles, clearly labeled, with complete export documents: packing list, phytosanitary certificate, L/C handling.

We work with selected family-run sawmills across Kentucky and the Appalachian region and inspect the material ourselves.
